We've lots of activities for children who would like to try horse riding this summer break, including Pony Hour, Tots’ sessions and Led Hacks, as well as lots of activities for children who can already ride, or just want to spend more time with ponies! You can view our full schedule here.
22 July, 4 August, 12 August, 24 August | 10 am – 11 am | £35 per child | 3 – 7 years
Our Tots’ Pony Hour includes a half-hour lead rein ride and structured, fun activities on the yard, learning more about ponies and pony-care. This pre-school activity is suitable for children aged between 3 and 7.
Children should be accompanied by an adult. The adult will be given training to lead their child’s pony for the ridden session if this is required. Please wear sensible, closed-toe shoes or boots!
4 August, 12 August, 24 August: 11.30 am – 12.30 pm | £35 per child | 4 - 12 years
In our Pony Hour children will spend half an hour riding and half an hour on the yard learning more about ponies and pony-care. This is a great opportunity for children to find out more about their new equine friends.
Children may only be accompanied by one adult. The adult will be given training to lead their child’s pony for the ridden session if this is required. Please wear sensible, closed-toe shoes or boots!
Pony Experience Day
23 July, 3 August: 10.00 am – 4.00 pm | £90 per child | 6 – 15 years
Children will join the Ride High ponies for a 45-minute ridden session and also spend time on the yard learning more about ponies and how we care for them. This session is ideal for beginners. Parents must leave children for this activity and will not be able to stay on site.
5 August, 11 August, 26 August: 9.30 am – 12.30 pm | £65 per child | 5 – 12 years
Children will join the Ride High ponies for a 45-minute ride and spend time with our team on the yard for a hands-on session learning more about ponies and how we care for them. Parents must leave children for this activity and will not be able to stay on site.
Meet our friendly ponies and join us for a gentle Led Hack around the perimeter of the Equestrian Centre. Due to Covid restrictions 1 adult should accompany each child and be prepared to lead their pony (training will be given).
Walk, Trot Hacks
10 August:10.00 am – 10.45 am & 11.00 am – 11.45 am | £35 per child | Level 3+
Join us for a gentle hack exploring the local countryside. These hacks are suitable for riders who can already ride independently (L3 and above).
Walk, Trot, Canter Hack
10 August: 3.00 pm – 4.00 pm | £40 per child | Level 5+
Explore the local countryside on horseback with us! An hour’s hack which will include walk, trot and possibly canter (ground and weather permitting). These hacks are suitable for Level 5 and 6 riders.
Hack for Adults
Monday 30 August | 9.30 am – 10.30 am | £40 per person
Join us for a hack exploring the local countryside! This hack is for adults only and pace will depend on rider ability, ground conditions and weather on the day. Riders who are not currently registered with us will need to complete an assessment before joining this hack.
Pony Pamper Session
25 August: 11.00 am – 11.45 am | £10 per child | 3 years – 12 years
Children can join our friendly ponies on the yard for a grooming and pamper session! This activity is ideal for beginners, is very hands-on and does not include horse riding.
26 – 29 July and 17 -20 August | £350 per child | Level 3+
Summer Camps are suitable for existing RHEC L3 and above riders only (Groups will be split by ability).
Children must be able to attend all 4 days of their chosen Camp and those over 10 years old have the option of camping over on the 3rd night. Please note, a non-refundable £50 deposit is required to secure a place as numbers are limited. For further information or to book, please contact Reception.
Due to COVID restrictions, numbers on site will be limited, so please only bring those who have booked onto your session or you may be turned away. Numbers are limited to:
Pony Hour & Tots’ Pony Hour - 1 adult may stay on site with each child during the session, no siblings please.
All other sessions: Adults must drop off children at Reception and collect at the end of the session.
All children should wear a mask and gloves. Masks may be removed during outdoor sessions, but we ask that they’re worn while hat fitting in Reception and getting on and off the ponies as our staff have to get very close to assist.
Please wear sensible, closed toe shoes or boots as our stable-yard has uneven and muddy surfaces.
Children must wear trousers if riding, for comfort.
Vest tops should not be worn for horseriding.
All adults should wear masks whilst on site and gloves if leading a pony (e.g. Pony Hour).

Summer Camp is only bookable by contacting Reception directly and is only available for existing RHEC members, L3 and above.
