Our Horse Mastership Programme helps our clients learn about horse care and riding in a structured but fun way! Each month we focus on a different topic. The events are practical and hands-on, and at the end of each one you have the opportunity to take a test to earn a badge.

How to identify items in the grooming kit and use them correctly to groom your horse.

Care of the Foot

Learn about the structure of the horse's foot, the need for daily care and gain some understanding of the trimming and shoeing process,

Horse Clothing

Understand about the different items of clothing our horses wear including fly masks and rugs – examining what they’re for and how to fit them correctly. We’ll look at the different types of rug and the factors to consider when choosing appropriate clothing for our horses.

Understand the basic rules of feeding and be able to recognise different feedstuffs.

Dig in and learn all about mucking out! Find out what tools and bedding you need to keep a horse's home clean and safe.

Understand the importance of a clean bit and learn how to clean tack correctly.

Learn the names for each part of the horse and recognise colours and markings.

Plaiting

 

Know the principles of plaiting a mane and tail, understand the occasions when the horse/pony should be plaited and recognise a well plaited mane and tail.

To be able to put on travel bandages, a tail bandage and understand the occasions that require the use of boots, the different types and how to fit them.

Perfect Paddock

 

Learn about what your horse needs from his paddock, including fencing, grass type, plants and clearing.

Each event costs £10 per person but is free for Pegasus and Unicorn members.

There is an extra charge of £5 if you’d like to take the test and for the badge
