Our Essential Horse Knowledge and Care courses teach you the basics of how to look after a horse or pony during our hands-on sessions.
We are currently offering a British Horse Society Essential Horse Knowledge and Care, Entry Level course and a Level One course.
These practical sessions on the yard, combined with some clubroom-based activities, will make you feel more confident around horses and the work that takes place on the stable yard.
The sessions run as 8 week programmes. You can choose to work towards British Horse Society certification, or just attend the course to improve your general knowledge and confidence.
If you'd like to obtain British Horse Society Essential Horse Knowledge and Care certification (Entry Level or Level 1), please let us know when you start the 8 week course and we will ensure you're ready to take the exam by the end of your sessions.
Sessions include…
- Week 1 – Horse behaviour
- Week 2 – Keeping you and your pony safe
- Week 3 – Feeding and watering
- Week 4 – How to provide suitable shelter
- Week 5 – How to clean and maintain bedding
