Did you know there are 40+ miles of bridleway leaving from our doorstep? We’re now running a few routes from the centre which offer something for all abilities, so if you’d like to try something new and get exploring give us a call.

The following hacks are for competent riders aged 12+ only. Please note, hacking takes place during the spring and summer only and we have a weight limit of 12 stone for riders.

Route 1 – Loughton Loop
approx. 1 hour

This road hack is the perfect introduction to hacking and is suitable for all abilities. Accompanied by our knowledgeable guides, the route uses local roads with low traffic, taking you past local parks, Loughton School field, and on to the Talbot Inn. On your return you will hack round the lower perimeter of the Ride High Equestrian Centre which few people get to see. This entry level hack is ideal for those who want to learn the rules of hacking out and get some valuable experience out of the arena.

Route 2 – Woodland Trot
approx. 1 hour

Take in the local bridleways around the Ride High Equestrian Centre and Oakhill. This hack for advanced riders takes you past greenery and tree lined paths, as well as a few local roads, and offers opportunities to go at a faster pace depending on the weather.

Please note: This hack involves bridge crossings and is for independent riders who can manage the safety of both the horse and themselves in different settings and can keep a good seat when riding. All new clients wishing to participate in the Wood Trot hack must have had a 25-minute assessment lesson at the centre before booking a hack.

Route 3 – Oakhill Hack Experience
approx. 3 hours (2 hours' riding)

Join us for the ultimate hacking experience across bridleways around Oakhill. Meet your horse before you set off as you get them ready for the ride. Groom and tack them up, then head out with our knowledgeable guides for a 2-hour hack. Set out from the Ride High Equestrian Centre and join local bridleways taking you past greenery and tree lined paths, as well as a few local roads. You’ll travel through Shenley Brook End, past Whaddon Park and Oakhill Wood taking in the wildlife and scenery, before you return to the centre via the perimeter of Shenley Wood. After the ride you will untack and care for the horse.
 

Please note: This hack is for independent riders who can manage the safety of both the horse and themselves in different settings and can keep a good seat when riding. All new clients wishing to participate in the Oakhill Hack Experience must have had a 25-minute assessment lesson at the centre before booking a hack. Current RHEC clients must be Level 4 or above and have completed the Woodland Trot before booking this hack.

Route 4 - Canter Hack
approx 1 hour

Join us for an hour’s hack, accompanied by our knowledgeable guides, exploring our local bridleways in Milton Keynes.  This route includes the opportunity to canter and is therefore best suited for more experienced riders.

Please note: This hack is for independent riders who can manage the safety of both the horse and themselves in different settings and can keep a good seat when riding. All new clients wishing to participate in the Canter Hack must have had a 25-minute assessment lesson at the centre before booking a hack.  Current RHEC riders must be Level 4 or above and have completed the Woodland Trot before booking this hack.

New to riding?

We also offer led hacks for beginners, these are  £35 per child or £40 per adult - please contact Reception for further information.

 


 

All hack bookings will be considered on a case by case basis and our instructors reserve the right to decline or amend a booking if they have concerns regarding the suitability of the hack being booked with regard to the rider's level of competency.
